The meeting took place within ,, Sibiu's Evenings’’ programm which aims to disseminate historical events from Transylvabnia from multiethnical, intercultural and plurirelgious perspective.
The meeting with the public was a reflection on the life of minorities in Transylvania, the challanges of everyday life in the social and political context of the inter-war.
This cohabitation of the minorities is characterised by good relations which have resisited during all times, even during oppresion, and which have greately helped the development of the Romanian area, Transylvania.
The speaker of the event was Bogdan Dumitru, Ph.D candidate in the University of Florida
The event will take place in the frame of the International Theater Festival (June 8-17, Sibiu) and it is an important part of the educational mission of our institutions. Exhibiting valuable books of our cultural history, we intend to remind the young people about an important part of our past, which was arrested during the communist era and attract the attention and support of the public towards both Romanian education and values as significant parts of European culture
The debates/meetings with the Youth will take place in two cities of Moldavia (Vicovul de Jos and Fălticeni) mainly address the issues of ostracization and resistance in the history of our country as well as in Europe. The main objective of the debates/meetings is to exchange knowledge, opinions and different points of view related to negative moments of the past, in order to understand the present, to heal the memory and contribute to the future, avoiding evil.
The event intends to promote discussions related to the communist period marked by discrimination and the violation of the human rights, especially of the right to free expression and education. The purpose of the event is to raise awareness of the young people towards the past history and their responsibility for the present.
