Workshop - DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP EDUCATION - UNIBO SEMINAR

Alessandro Soriani, PhD Senior assistant professor (fixed-term) - 11/PAED-02 Methodologies of Teaching and Special Education, Department of Education Studies “G.M. Bertin”, University of Bologna

The digital environment and technologies provide unprecedented means and opportunities for people to express themselves in different ways, to discover, learn and create, and to communicate and socialise. But they also bring new challenges. Digital citizenship is the capacity to participate actively, continuously and responsibly in communities online and offline, through competent and positive engagement with digital technologies (by creating, working, sharing, socialising, investigating, playing, communicating and learning).

The seminar, that will be held on the 28th of January 2025, is the perfect occasion to get to know about the most relevant concepts that stand behind the definition of Digital Citizenship Education. The session will also address on of the most interesting strands that the Council of Europe developed withing the framework of Digital Citizenship Education: Video Game Culture. Video Games can offer a very fertile ground to develop Digital Citizenship Education and we will try to understand why and how.
