Full project title: The co<\/mark>verage and re<\/mark>ception of the Russian-Ukrainian co<\/mark>n<\/mark>flict in Polish, Romanian and English-language media: A comparative critical discourse study with recommendations for journalism training (CORECON<\/mark>)<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Often referred to as the \u201cSecond Cold War\u201d or even the \u201cThird World War\u201d, the Russian-Ukrainian military conflict is undoubtedly not only one of the major events of this decade, but one that is set to profoundly influence European history. Yet, the military conflict is only one face of an ideological and informational war that has already polarized the planet. How to detect the truth beyond the propagandas and identify the rhetorical strategies by which the producers of various discourses try to influence public opinion? In an era of \u201cpost-truth\u201d, and at the time when AI tends to substitute or even create reality, such a question acquires new relevance and urgency and calls for interdisciplinary and collaborative research.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To address the informational challenges in the conflict-ridden public sphere, the studies should not only concern the belligerent camps where propagandas reign, but focus on the analysis of the variety of mediated discourses developed in response to the conflict. For these reasons, the international team of researchers in CORECON aims to explore the evolving coverage of Russian-Ukrainian conflict, together with its social, economic and political implications, by analyzing the dominant patterns and perceptions of the unfolding events in the Polish, Romanian and English-language media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project aims to apply the eclectic toolkit of Critical Discourse Studies to raise public awareness of the extent, techniques, and implications of media technologies and discourses regarding the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, not only through academic publications, but also through popularization events. It offers some recommendations for journalism training and media literacy, which constitutes a necessary premise for preserving the democratic character of the societies in which we live.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pentru a r\u0103spunde provoc\u0103rilor informa\u021bionale din sfera public\u0103 \u00een ceea ce prive\u0219te conflictul ruso-ucrainean, studiile consacrate acestuia ar trebui s\u0103 se refere nu doar la taberele beligerante, \u00een care propaganda e suveran\u0103, ci \u0219i la varietatea de discursuri mediate generate ca urmare a conflictului. Din aceste motive, echipa interna\u021bional\u0103 de cercet\u0103tori din cadrul CORECON \u00ee\u0219i propune s\u0103 exploreze evolu\u021bia reflect\u0103rii conflictului ruso-ucrainean, precum \u0219i implica\u021biile sale sociale, economice \u0219i politice, analiz\u00e2nd reprezent\u0103rile dominante \u0219i receptarea social\u0103 a evenimentelor \u00een mass-media polonez\u0103, rom\u00e2n\u0103 \u0219i englez\u0103.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
